Miguel Huarte Arregui
Miguel Huarte Arregui is a Partner of the Law Firm, where he leads the Infrastructure, Construction and Major Projects Area.
Miguel Huarte has advised on complex M&A procedures, mainly for telecom, biotech and renewable companies. Since 2000, he is primarily involved in advising on Construction and Infrastructure. He provides advice both on greenfields and brownfields, on privatization proceedings and on public-private partnerships (PPPs). Although he is focused on transportation and energy infrastructures, he also advises on environmental (water treatment…) and social (hospitals…) PPP projects.
He has developed his career in Europe, North America, Canada and South America.
Rocío Varela García
Rocío Varela García is Team Director of the Infrastructures, Construction and Major Projects Area. She has previously developed her career at Uría & Menéndez and Baker McKenzie.
Rocío is specialized in advising on construction, operation and maintenance railway and transport infrastructure projects, both in greenfield and brownfield transactions; in infrastructure concessions, Public-Private Partnerships (PPP), private initiatives and public tenders. Moreover, she has a vast experience in delivering advice on energy projects, both traditional and renewable sourced (wind, thermosolar, etc.), construction and operation of cement plants, telecommunication infrastructures, water and waste treatment plants. She mainly advises project promoters, construction companies, concessionaires and other infrastructure operators, as well as banking and finance institutions and institutional and private investors.
Her experience is focused on corporate, commercial and contractual matters; financing (Project Finance), refinancing and restructuring of projects and mergers and acquisitions.
Rocío holds a Double Degree in Law and Business Administration from Universidad Pontificia de Comillas, ICAI-ICADE and is a member of Madrid’s Bar Association.
She is bilingual in English and Spanish and she also speaks French.
Magdalena de Cal Arriaga
Magdalena de Cal Arriaga is an Associate in the Infrastructure, Construction and Major Projects Area. Before joining ITER Law, she collaborated with international law firms such as Baker McKenzie and Pérez-Llorca.
Magdalena has experience advising on corporate, commercial and contracting matters in M&A transactions, banking and finance projects, especially for fintech companies. Currently she advises primarily project promoters, construction and concessionaire companies and other infrastructure operators, as well as financing institutions and institutional and private investors.
Magdalena holds a Double Degree in Law and Business from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (2016) and has studied the Masters in Legal Practice at Universidad Carlos III.
Magdalena is a member of Madrid’s Bar Association.
Magdalena is fluent in English and Spanish.
María José Escribano Gómez-Fabra
María José is a Lawyer in the Infrastructures, Construction and Major Projects Area. She has previously developed her career at Deloitte and Baker McKenzie.
She brings our team the necessary financial perspective of projects. Her collaboration with other law firms has enabled her to acquire experience in advising major companies, both national and international, on financial operations and debt restructuring, real estate transactions, corporate and merger and acquisitions projects.
Furthermore, she has been enrolled in the incorporation of new payment institutions, and she has counseled financial institutions, insurance undertakings and multinational companies on the correct implementation of the new European regulations and policies.
María José holds a Double Degree in Law and Business Administration from Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (2016) and she has a Double Master in Legal Practice and Regulated Sectors Law from Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (2017).
María José is a member of Madrid’s Bar Association.
María José is fluent in English and Spanish and speaks German and French.
